Cohiba Siglo VI Gran Reserva Cigars Hit Stores

Posted: Thursday, October 29, 2009

By Gregory Mottola

It's arguably the most anticipated—and clearly the most expensive—Cuban cigar of 2009: the Cohiba Siglo VI Gran Reserva, and it has finally shipped to retail shops around the world.

Habanos S.A., the global distributor of Cuban cigars, announced that only 5,000 numbered cases of 15 cigars have been released, or 75,000 cigars to be divided over the entire planet.

The cigar was first previewed at the Habanos Festival in February, and a few lucky attendees were able to sample the hefty 5 7/8 inch by 52 ring gauge cigar.

According to Habanos, the Cohiba Siglo VI Gran Reserva contains premium tobacco grown in the San Juan, San Martinez and San Luis regions of Cuba, harvested from the 2003 crop.

For more on this story, including price comparisons from around the world, see the current issue of Cigar Insider.
